This week's topic comes from high school English teacher John Wells. John began broaching this subject with his senior classes since the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) went 1:1. The F. J. Reitz High School yearbook class, which John advises, successfully used social media to revamp their process of collecting photos and opened the door to school hashtags. Last summer he brought a panel of his students to the eRevolution to candidly share their decision making process when it comes to posting and responding to social media. He will be returning this summer for a panel discussion titled Students' View of Digital Citizenship.
John Wells considers himself an educator and innovator, constantly looking to improve what he does in the classroom to better help students learn and to aid teachers in utilizing technology in their curriculum. Through his work with EVSC's Community of Digital Educators (CODE), he has focused on the role social media can play in the classroom and the best practices on teaching digital citizenship. Wells is a father of four and enjoys photography and young adult fiction.
